For you Mormons out there, I found this interesting article in the NY Times about 5 young siblings who all went to Julliard and who all secured recording contracts with BMG.I have to say I'm a bit interested in how their music sounds, given that they'd like to appeal to the younger crowd. I also can't help but think the tuition bill must have been astronomical.

Unless of course they all got scholarships.

Of course. Actually, I thought about that, but it seemed somewhat unlikely for all of them (if any) to get a full-ride scholarship. Here's the expected expenses for a year:

Dang. If they didn't have scholarships or grants, either the family is rich or has a lot of debt now.

It's not the tuition that'll get you at Julliard. There are tons of scholarships and grants for students who have actually made it into Julliard. It's the non sponsored housing that costs so much. The housing costs they mentioned on that page are for Julliard sponsored housing of which there aren't enough. Because of that, you pretty much have to live in non sponsored housing. And non sponsored housing is expensive. Very expensive. (Of course, my info is 10 years old. Maybe they have more sponsored housing by now.)

I saw a thing about this family on tv quite awhile back. I believe that they were paying out of pocket for everything. I think I recall that either the husband or wife didn't live with them because their job in another state paid enough to support them.
